I participated in a clinical trial in 2008 at Wake Research and the experience was good for the time.  Everything was on paper and i was compensated in American Express Gift Cheques (which i dont think anyone accepts anymore.). I stayed in the study for about 10 months and the study nurse was also a nutritionist so she was very helpful with how to stay on track with the study.

I was selected for a study but, without any notification from the staff, I arrived to find out that the study was closed the previous day. I rearranged my entire schedule and drove an hour to get there and, when I complained of not receiving a phone call so that I would not have had to go through so much inconvenience, one of the "directors" acted annoyed towards me and excused the lack of communication by saying the person who makes the phone calls wasn't there. There was an overall attitude of disrespect shown towards me. I will never consider participating in another study there.
